Supervision Basics

Document Actions

Using a hands-on approach, the Supervision Basics class opens the eyes and minds of new Supervisors, showing them the role of supervisors in hospitality jobs.  This class is recommended for new Supervisors, especially those who have been promoted from a non-supervisory role within the organization.  Concepts covered in this course include goal setting, time management, delegating tasks, professionalism, becoming an employee advocate and providing guest service as a company representative.  As a result of this training, new Supervisors will identify their own strengths and weaknesses, and have an action plan for improvement.  Participants will also understand how to speak to fellow employees and relate to other managers.

CORE OUTCOMES – Participants should be able to:

  • Understand the role of a supervisor in the hospitality industry
  • Identify functions of management and how they fit into a supervisors job
  • Explain the advantages of delegation
  • Practice using the On The Job training model
  • Evaluate current supervision techniques and how to improve them
