Usually found on invitations, it is a formal request for the recipient to reply to the invitation. From the French "repondez s'il vous plait", it literally means please respond or please reply.
The RSVP can be found on the lower left-hand corner of invitations. Replies are sent to the person(s) whose name(s) appear on the invitation.
