Changing your Policies? Procedures?

Document Actions

When you introduce a new procedure, some employees may resist, thinking the old way is better. Or they may think the new procedure won't fix the faults of the old way. To prevent that from happening:

- Meet with employees-individually and in groups-to listen to their concerns before making the change.

- Identify any misgivings they have about the old way. Take notes of their comments.

- Post their concerns on a flip chart during a training session. Let the trainees read over the comments. Add any additional comments they bring up.

- Ask the trainees to identify their biggest concerns from the list. Place red dots next to them. Then show step-by-step how the new method will address those concerns.
