Saluting Salads of Summer
There's nothing like a cool salad entree to evoke the airy feeling of summer and please guests who are trying to slim down. Let your imagination run wild as you pick from many fresh foods and herbs available in the summer. Nothing says "summer" more than seafood, so select lobster tail, seared Ahi tuna, succulent grilled salmon or crisp baby shrimp to top salads featuring items such as tropical fruits, slivered red onions, toasted nuts, wild rice, fresh tarragon, baby peas and asparagus.
Favoring Fathers
According to the National Restaurant Association 2000 Dining Report, 23% of Americans dine out on Father's Day, up 17% from 1997. Attract business well in advance of Father's Day with table tents and a notice in your local paper advertising your Father's Day brunch or dinner specials. For brunch, offer hearty favorites such as grilled steak and eggs, sausages, bacon, hash browns, pancakes and waffles, and fruit salad for those with lighter appetites. At dinnertime, highlight your steaks and promote your specialty beers. Give each dad a free slice of his favorite pie for dessert.
Through the Years
June is a very popular month for weddings, which means that lots of couples will be celebrating their anniversaries this month. Take advantage of the romance in the air by advertising your restaurant as a place to spend such a special occasion. Give couples a discount on their meal based on the anniversary they're marking- 5% for those celebrating their 5 year anniversary and so on. Offer couples complimentary champagne or sparkling cider in glasses with your restaurant's name to keep as mementos.
