MHEF Trains the Teachers
Teachers from around the state have been working hard this summer attending MHEF’s annual ProStart Teacher Workshops held at the Restaurant Association of Maryland’s headquarters in Columbia. These ProStart teachers have been learning about food safety and sanitation, herbs, spices and purchasing along with hands-on work with their knife skills, bread baking and deboning whole chickens. These intense workshops help to prepare ProStart teachers for the upcoming school year and expand their knowledge of the hospitality and foodservice industry.
MHEF partnered with representatives from Perdue Chicken, Coastal Sunbelt Produce, McCormick, Anne Arundel Community College – HCAT, Lincoln Tech Center for Culinary Arts, Saval Foodservice, MICROS, Vanns Spices, Culinary Classics and the Restaurant Association of Maryland to offer these workshops for teachers. Twenty teachers took time from their summer vacations to attend.
