 I think you would feel better about yourself if you tried to adopt a more positive attitude.  How can I help you do that?

Let us use a more positive approach to things.  Let us being by discussing all the good things I have seen you do this week.  It is difficult to help when you are upset.  Take a short break and then come back and see me.  I would be glad to help you then.
